Forest Fest

Location: Jesse H. Jones Park in Humble, TX

Date & Time: Saturday, November 8, 9:00am - 2:00pm

Event Opportunities: Nature lovers of all ages are invited to Jones Park for a day of discovery, celebrating one of our most important natural resources - trees! Come learn about the importance of our forests and how you can help conserve such a vital, but endangered, ecosystem at our inaugural Forest Fest. Visitors can enjoy hikes, wildlife presentations, and educational exhibits. Native plants and concession sales will be available from Jesse Jones Park Volunteers. Great for families of all ages, school groups, and Scouts.

Buck Fever

Location: Seguin Events Complex in Seguin, TX

Event Opportunities: Buck Fever Event is a 2 day event held on a Wednesday & Thursday evening each October. The Event is Family Friendly and offers the Buck Fever Horns Contest & Exhibit, Vendors, Games & Raffles, Food Trucks, Shopping, and Games & Activities for all to enjoy

A.3 Manned Poster Display — Restrictions: points awarded per day, minimum of one hour. 

A.6 Coordinate cadets at an event - Requirements: You must be present for the entire event you are organizing and communicate with the Texas Brigades office prior to and after the event. Only ONE person per event may claim this activity.

To coordinate this event, we ask the following:

  • Coordinate in a provided spreadsheet which graduates are attending during which time slots

  • Communicate arrival details and instructions with participants (as they become available from TB)

  • Be willing to be at the event at least 95% of the time to assist with time slot turnover

  • Coordinate booth set-up and tear-down with Texas Brigades staff -- IMPORTANT!

City of Buda Arbor Day Event

Location: Buda Sportsplex in Buda, TX

Event Opportunities: This event covers Arbor Day but is based on natural resources, ecology, water quality/ conservation  and wildlife management. It is a captured audience and last year we reached approximately 300 youth plus adult educators at our this event.  This will be a great opportunity to recruit cadets for this upcoming camp season!

 Event Opportunities: The Texas Master Naturalist Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for the Texas Master Naturalist volunteers from around the state to gather, participate in hands-on educational seminars, and receive all their Advanced Training requirements for the year in one weekend. It’s also an opportunity for program participants and supporters to network, share new ideas, and to learn from chapters in different regions of the state. This is a great opportunity to network with wildlife professionals, meet other Texas Brigades volunteers and cadets, and earn points for your BOA!

TOWA Fall Stampede

Location: Shaw’s Bend Social Club in Columbus TX

Event Opportunities: Scheduled every October the TOWA Fall Stampede is the organization’s annual informal party/event. Situated on 200 acres that abuts the Colorado River, the venue provides plenty of room for fun. Whereas the annual conference is the time for awards, scholarships, craft improvement seminars, and networking. The Stampede is also an opportunity to network but is solely designed as a place for state agencies, manufacturers, and sponsoring NGO members to showcase their efforts and wares. This is a great opportunity to share your camp experiences with youth that share similar interest!

HBGFC Fun Fishing Day

Location: Pelican Rest Marina in Galveston, TX

Date & Time: Saturday, October 11

Event Opportunities: The 13th Annual FUN FISHING DAY will be held at the Pelican Rest Marina on Saturday, October 11th, 2025.  We are excited to host the children of the Ronald McDonald House AND the children of Shriners Children’s Hospital of Galveston again this year! The children and their families will spend the morning fishing with Club volunteers who will help them bait their hooks, reel in their fish and keep track of their winning catches.  Families are treated to a delicious lunch and refreshments, followed by a fun awards presentation, prior to their departure. No one leaves empty handed. Our Volunteers, Donors, and Sponsors help support the event in multiple ways and ensure all families go home with a little extra gift and some fun pictures to remember their FUN FISHING DAY!

  • Sunday, September 28 — 12:00pm-4:00pm

Event Opportunities: This is a free event open to the public, full of various hands-on activities such as archery, BB gun shooting, fish identification, and more. North Dakota Waterfowl Brigade will have a table reserved at this event for our graduates to staff and spread the word about camp. We’re needing a Coordinating Cadet for this event (please see the note below) as well as a hands-on activity or two for the participants. 

  •  A.5 Assist with a Conservation Organization’s Event — Points awarded for assisting with the instruction of the hands-on activity at the event. 

    • Cadets should wear their camp shirt to this event. You are welcome to bring your poster as well, but please note that you will only receive points for A.5. 

  • A.6 Coordinate Cadets at an Event — You must be present for the entire event and communicate with the Texas Brigades office prior to and after the event. Only ONE person per event may claim this activity, and this role must be confirmed by Elizabeth Palarski prior to receiving any credit.

    • Coordinating Cadet responsibilities: coordinate with Elizabeth prior to the event to obtain event materials, assist with set up of our table, serve as the point of contact for Cadet questions on the day of the event, assist with take down of the event, and coordinate with Elizabeth to hand off the materials once the event is over.

Location: Patout Pond in Navastoa, TX

Event Opportunities: This is a free event for the local community to come out and try their hand at fishing. The City of Navasota's Parks and Recreation department would like help from cadets to set up the event and assist participating families with fishing.

We are looking for 17-22 year old students (minimum completion of Junior year of high school) that have a strong interest in a conservation law enforcement career. This event is the perfect opportunity to hear and learn from Texas Game Wardens about their day-to-day lives and gain valuable, hands-on experience relating to a career as a Texas Game Warden.

Girl Scouts in State Parks

Event Opportunities: Girl Scouts Love State Parks is the biggest Girl Scout outdoor event of the year! Visit select state parks on Sept. 13-14, 2025, for programming, badges, and a chance to connect with other scouts. All Girl Scout troops, individual Scouts, and Girl Scouts’ families and friends are invited to participate. Texas Brigades Volunteer, Michael Scherer, will be leading the Angler Education Rotations and is looking for volunteers!

Kids Wildlife Conservation Day

Event Location: The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham; Houston, TX

Event Opportunities: Kids Wildlife Conservation Day was created to educate youth about the Great Outdoors and enrich the Lifelong Conservationist! This will be a day full of amazing hands on activities and multiple certification classes. Everything from fishing to hunters education certification and so much more! Texas Brigades graduates are invited to attend, help out with the event, and-or present their poster.

A.3 Manned Poster Display — Restrictions: points awarded per day, minimum of one hour. If you set up your poster or trifold while making/providing a presentation, you will NOT receive credit for the manned display, only the educational presentation.

North Dakota Youth Waterfowl Hunting Workshop

 Location: Ducks Unlimited Great Plains Regional Office

    • Friday, August 8 — 9:00am-4:00pm

 Event Opportunities: Activities include duck identification and hunting regulations, decoy spreads, hunting gear, basic firearm safety, duck calling and retriever training. The first 20 participants (ages 9-16) to register will be able to participate in one of the shooting training sessions at Capital City Sporting Clays Range in the afternoon. The shooting training will include safe gun handling tips. A parent or guardian must accompany children at the shooting range.
