White-tailed Deer Management Program (Bexar Co. Wildlife Series) @ Bexar Co. Extension Office (San Antonio, TX)

Description: This is Bexar County’s third annual Summer Wildlife Series, and this year’s theme is Texas Game Species. Dr. Maureen Frank will be presenting about white-tailed deer management; cadets will be welcome to set up trifolds and/or give a talk. Please contact Maureen Frank at mgfrank@tamu.edu if you would like to attend this event.

Texas Brigades Involvement: Texas Brigades STBUB Volunteer, Maureen Frank will be on-site to organize/direct cadets.

BOA Opportunities Available:

    • A.1: Single presentation to a captive audience. If you set up your trifold while doing a presentation, you will NOT receive credit for the manned display, only the educational presentation.

    OR

    • A.3: Manned trifold display. Restrictions: points awarded per day, minimum of one hour. If you set up your trifold while making a presentation, you will NOT receive credit for the manned display, only the educational presentation.

    Hunt Hondo @ Medina County Fair Hall (Hondo, TX)

    Description: The Outdoors Expo will begin at 10:00 am and lasts all day until 4:00 pm. For all of you outdoor enthusiasts, you won’t want to miss the Expo. Browse through the booths in the Medina County Fair Hall and the Hondo City Park and discover everything outdoors. We invite all outdoor enthusiasts to gather and gear up for hunting season. Whether you are looking for hunting/fishing gear or apparel, knives, rifles, deer processors, taxidermists or outfitters, you are sure to find it at the Hunt Hondo Outdoors Expo. Admission to the Expo is $5, and kids 12 and under are free!

    Texas Brigades Involvement: Texas Brigades will have an indoor booth at this event. Jon Diaz (parent of cadet) will be on-site to direct cadets. Please use the form below to sign up for this event!

        East Texas Forestry Experience @ Stephen F. Austin State University Pineywoods Native Plant Center (Nacogdoches, TX)

        DescriptionIt is with great excitement that Texas Brigades is offering the second East Texas Forestry Experience held at the Stephen F. Austin State University Pineywoods Native Plant Center on Friday, September 27th, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event, led by experts in the field from a variety of state agencies, will provide students with an immersive, interactive experience in the field of forestry and natural resources. While all grade levels are open to attend, we highly encourage freshman through junior grade level participants. Registration is by invitation only to school classes/teachers, and limited to 50 students on a first come, first serve basis.         Texas Brigades Involvement: This is a Texas Brigades Experience that is NOT open to the public; attendees register by invite only through their teachers. Previous Texas Brigades cadets are invited to assist with the event and display their trifolds. If you are a cadet who interested in attending, please contact Jake Hill (jakeshill00@gmail.com).

          • A.4: Unmanned trifold display. Restrictions: trifold must be displayed for a minimum of 3 days consecutive days at a single location, or for the duration of an event.
          • A.5: Assist with a natural resource, wildlife, or conservation organization’s event. Points awarded per day of assistance. Examples of assisting include: helping set up the event, assisting with instruction, or staffing a booth (without your trifold).

            2019 Kendall County Wild Game Dinner @ Kendall County Fairgrounds (Boerne, TX)

            Description: At the Kendall County Wild Game Dinner, you can expect everything from Axis, Alligator and it’s probably bacon wrapped, sizzled, seared or sautéed! And, for those who prefer the conventional cuisine, we’ve got you covered. We have 20 cook teams returning each year and as we’ve always said, our cooks are the backbone of this event. They are the reason that we draw the huge crowds year after year, “This group can cook”! The fantastic food, amazing auction items, games, vendors, there is something for everyone at this exciting event.
