  • Texas Brigades Experience: Exploring Baffin Bay

    This single-day, FREE Experience will offer fun, hands-on conservation and stewardship activities at Baffin Bay! Activities will address topics including boating, fishing, water quality testing, fish identification, bird identification, watershed systems, and more!

    Free registration, below Materials and lunch will be provided Ages 9 - 17 (12 & under please bring a parent or older sibling)

  • Texas Game Warden Experience

    Participants had the opportunity to hear and learn from Texas Game Wardens about their day-to-day lives and gain valuable, hands-on experience relating to a career as a Texas Game Warden.

    Activities included fly fishing skills and regulations, on-duty scenarios, range skills and safety, active shooter simulations, and more.

    When: Saturday, September 10, 2022; Saturday, September 16, 2023 Where: Texas Game Warden Training Center (Hamilton, TX)

  • Explore SPI

    Participants started off the morning learning about mollusks! Then learned the importance of pollinators, participated in birding techniques and identification, discussed tagging and data collection, and learned about and of ways to mitigate water pollutants.

  • Diving Into Urban Waters

    Participants and their families learned all about urban watersheds! Water quality, fish and plant identification, and stream hydrology were hot topics.

  • Step Up to Clean Up

    Participants stepped up to learn about significant beach and shoreline pollutants, including vape trash, cigarette butts, nurdles, and other marine garbage. Finishing the event with a beach clean up, collecting more than 50 lbs of trash and other pollutants.

    We are thankful for the support of our partners & volunteers: Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees, BACODA, Turtle Island Restoration Network, SPLASh (American Bird Conservancy), Surfrider: Galveston Chapter, Galveston Island Nature Tourism, & Sea Tow.

  • Explore the Outdoors

    Participants gathered together to explore the outdoors! Engaging in hands-on activities ranging from electro-fishing to bobwhite quail, and deer habitat to pollinators!

    We appreciate all of the Brigades volunteers and the ranch for hosting us!

  • Picture This!

    Participants and their families gained first-hand experience in outdoor photography skills thanks to our co-hosts, Richards Outdoor Photography!

    Participants learned about scale, lighting, angles, settings, and capturing still and live objects.
