We hope to see applications from all of you to attend another camp. Attending a Brigade camp was not designed to be a onetime experience. We’d love to have you back in 2010!

You’ve seen the below section in the newsletter for months, but now we have an awesomeposter for you to take with you to hang up! We’ve enclosed a mini poster example!
PROMOTING TEXAS BRIGADES
Do you have businesses in your town that would be willing to promote the Brigades? Feed stores, taxidermists, hunting supply stores, meat lockers, banks, County Extension offices – those are just some examples. Either set up an unmanned display or ask if you can leave some brochures and flyers. If you would like brochures or flyers, contact Helen or Kassi at 800-TEX-WILD, h_holdsworth@texas-wildlife.org, kscheffer@texas-wildlife.org.

That’s right; you’ll find applications for 2010 in this packet! ALSO, EVERYONE (cadets, assistant leaders, special agents, and adults) HAS AN APPLICATION TO FILL OUT NOW! See the section below regarding the Assistant Leader and Special Agent application.
REMINDER: You get points for recruiting cadets and adults! So, before you make copies of the cadet application, fill in your name in the “Where (4-H, FFA, magazine, newspaper, website, etc.) or from whom did you learn about the Texas Brigades?” space.
Brigades Rendezvous – March 26-28, 2010
Regardless if you’ve heard of Rendezvous or not – GET EXCITED!!
Missing your fellow cadets or wanting to meet some from other camps? The Brigades Rendezvous is just the place! Come join us for food, fun, and a walking deer census at the Texas AgriLife Experiment Station in Sonora, TX. Look for the flyer and RSVP form in this month’s packet.

Included in this newsletter is a new application form that must accompany your Book of Accomplishments when you send it in by April 1st! Don’t worry; it is to help us keep track of not only you, but your book as well. We’ll include this form with the newsletter for the next several months and you can also find it on the website under RESOURCES, in the Return to Camp section.
Potential $$$ Enclosed!
Applications are still available for $20,000 in college scholarships from the 10th Annual Texas Big Game Awards (TBGA) Wildlife Conservation College Scholarship Program. All applicants must be agriculture and/or natural resource-related majors. There will be eight scholarships (one per TBGA Region) awarded at $1,500 each, and the overall top scholarship applicant will receive a $3,000 college scholarship. Any entering college freshman (graduating high school senior), or entering college sophomore, or entering college junior is eligible to apply for one of the available scholarships. All applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2010.

If you’ve already taken the plunge into working on your Book of Accomplishments, first off, WAY TO GO! For instructions on how to create your book, the forms needed, and ideas on how to add creativity to your book CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE! Click on the RESOURCES tab at the top of the page and then the Returning to Camp link in the right column!
Spring Break Wildlife Camp
March 15 – 19: Spring Break Wildlife Camp, San Antonio (day camp)
NEEDED: 6 AMAZING Assistant Leaders to mentor San Antonio youth as they venture into the wild. Previous experience as an Assistant Leader NOT necessary. Let us know if you are interested – we REALLY need your help to make this a success! If interested we ask that you sign up for a minimum of 3 days. More information to come in the near future!
<*(((>< Texas State-Fish Art Contest Seeks Entries ><)))*>
The State-Fish Art Contest is open to any student in grades 4 through 12 in public, private, or home schools. Texas entries are judged at TFFC and are due March 31. Contest information and entry form can be found at www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishart.

Enclosed with this newsletter is one postcard. Fill in what you have done this month and mail it to Helen. We will report your activities in the next newsletter. You may also e-mail your activities to h_holdsworth@texas-wildlife.org. The activity report form and postcards are on the Brigades website (www.texasbrigades.org), under “Resources.”
